Experience variety in daily job

For most corporate jobs you would need to undergo the usual 9 to 5 desk job and you pretty much rotate among the same job each day but with nursing, you get the chance to experience variety and that’s just because there is so much to it when it comes to nursing. Every day’s job scope differs and this aspect hugely depends on the personality and also the illnesses that a patient experiences. It compromises from going for rounds, dealing with emergency situation, do dressing for patient and consoling them as well

Being appreciated

I guess one of the most satisfying parts of becoming a nurse is that you are constantly appreciated by patients and also the families of patients. Since you need to look after the patient and their needs, you create a sort of intimate bond with them that you would know details about them, this unknowingly creates a sense of comfort within them that makes them attached with you. Nurses are the first person who would look after you in hospital, even before doctors hence why they are always appreciated.

Cons

Longer working hour

Possibility for nurses to possess a 12 hour shift is pretty common in the healthcare line. Sometimes they are always on their feet and they don’t even have time to have their meals in between nor take breaks. This can get pretty stressful especially if you have an overwhelming amount of patients to look after. Nurses often go through several phases of burn out era because of the workload they are assigned to.

Witness loss

Those who work in the health line in general would witness loss almost everyday. While it may not be common in all nursing roles but is certainly common for nurses who work in emergency wards and ICU to witness death of some sort. It is definitely not the type of job for people with delicate hard work. There are patients with whom you might have created a strong bond and sometimes you tend to grow closer even with their family members so seeing them leave would be really hard and sometimes might take a toll on you.

Not a glamorous job

Nurses don’t get to dress up for work all they get to wear is scrubs and a comfortable pair of shoes that might not look that glamorous. You would need to deal with things like illnesses, ailments, several skin conditions and also the waste of humans so you would need a strong hard to carry on with the job done. You don’t have your off days during the weekend and you work around the clock.
